libssh2_userauth_publickey_fromfile() and passphrase

I'm having problems getting a passphrase to work with the identity file
specified in libssh2_userauth_publickey_fromfile(). The returned error
code is LIBSSH2_ERROR_PUBLICKEY_UNRECOGNIZED. An identity without a
passphrase works fine. This happens with both RSA and DSS identities
generated with ssh-keygen from OpenSSH. I'm using version 1.1 of
libssh2. Is this going to be supported in a future release?

Thanks for libssh2,
